Visit of the Ambassador of the Royal Norwegian Embassy
On Tuesday February 25th we had the opportunity to spend a day with Mrs. Inga Magistad, Ambassador from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bratislava, and we had a chance to introduce her our fieldwork and its results.
Visiting our some of our ongoing projects, we started at the elementary school in Veľká Ida, where Mrs. Ambassador enjoyed participating in teaching at the school club working with the Feuerstein instrumental enrichment method. Along with discussion of the method and its measurable results, there was enough time for playing with the children, singing, and dancing, reminding all of us that our children have always been our greatest joy.
The next stop was the community center in Moldava nad Bodvou, whose activities Norway has directly supported in the past. When we arrived, an afternoon of tutoring children was underway, directed by the leader of the community center, Irma Horváthová. A discussion with children about their results in school and their dreams about the future brought a lot of laughter and joy, too. The children especially enjoyed an opportunity to showcase their knowledge of English, which is the fourth language that these children can speak along Romany, Hungarian and Slovak. Ambassador Magistad was interested in Irma‘s work and she gave Irma sincere compliments for the wide range of activities that Irma handles in the larger Budulovska community.
Ambassador Magistrad gave little Norwegian troll figure to the children in both places, and each time the children see it, they fondly remember the visit.
Mrs. Magistad expressed an interest in many of the activities of ETP Slovakia and her encouraging words and support give us great pleasure. We are already looking forward to further joint meetings.
