From May 27 to 30, 2014 partners of the Music4Rom Project met in Tapovan Centre in Normandy, France. Music4Rom is a new international art project aiming to promote Roma values to build intercultural bridges, social inclusion and educate children in European citizenship through music. The project partners are International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation (Belgium), ETP Slovakia, MUS-e Napoli (Italy), Union Romani (Spain), The Mosaic Art and Sound Ltd (United Kingdom), Activ Art (Romania), European Roma Information Office (Belgium) and Sons Croises (France).
ETP Slovakia was represented at the Music4Rom meeting by Lenka Orsagova. During the first day of the meeting the partners were introduced to the members of the Artistic and Pedagogical Committee, and details of future cooperation were agreed. Starting from the second day, the partners were divided into working groups. Each working group was responsible to create two learning paths suggesting how to use music to develop cognitive skills of children. The aim behind the creation of the methodological guide is to provide teachers, socio-cultural coordinators and mediators with ideas of how to use playfulness of music while developing memory, abstract thinking, or motoric skills of children coming from a low-stimulus environment.
The highlight of the partnership meeting was a concert in Tapovan Centre organized by the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation conducted by the members of the Artistic Committee.
