Igor – one of those, who were arrested and taken to the police station

ETP Slovakia has known and worked with young people from Moldava nad Bodvou since 2008. Some of them were arrested and taken to the police station in Moldava nad Bodvou following police intervention in the settlement of Budulovska.

Young people from Budulovska Roma settlement founded an amateur theatre group called „Slumdog Theatre“ in 2009. They used to meet regularly in Community centre run by ETP Slovakia. “Slumdog theatre” performed on many events organized in Slovakia and abroad.

One of the amateur actors – Igor ( Milan Hudák) – represented Slovakia on the First Annual Conference of European Platform Against Poverty and Social Exclusion in Krakow in October 2011. He spoke about his life experience and was listened to attentively by all participants of the forum. Moldava nad Bodvou region is typical of high unemployment rates. Many of young people are registered on labor offices, but just few of them are offered a job.  Igor has not received any job offer since his registration at the Labor Office, except of offers to work in “public work program”.

In 2012 Igor successfully finished his elementary studies (which he previously had not finished) and decided to continue with studies at secondary school. Unfortunately, his mother fell sick thus he had to reconsider his plans. He is preparing to start these studies in September 2013.

Lately, he was one of the organizers of the project “Clean Environment Around Us”, the final event and presentation of results took place on June 15, 2013 in the Budulovska settlement.

Igor has been working as a volunteer in the community centre for the last five years. He works everyday with children in the pre-school club, he reads children fairy tales and helps pupils with their homework. He is also an amateur photographer.

World famous photographer with Slovak origin Yuri Dojc valued Igor`s talent.
