International Roma Festival in Bratislava

Our RHAP clients took part in International Roma Festival in Bratislava, on May 18th, 2008. Many of our clients have never visited the capital of Slovakia thus making this visit very interesting for them.

After our arrival to Bratislava, we had a very tasty lunch provided by the organizers of the festival. Our clients had a chance to see the Bratislava Castle and the Parliament building, however we were not able to show the the downtown area due to lack of time. The Festival itself started at 2 p.m. and finished at 8 p.m.

Our clients were very happy about the cultural program. Most of all, they enjoyed gypsy folk music from Hungary Vierka Berkyová, Slovak superstar, was one of the participants in the festival. Their favorite performer was Nótar Mari from Hungary, who was the honorary guest of the festival.

When asked if they would like to come again, all of the clients answered: „YES“. The 700 km round trip was an exhausting one for them; however they enjoyed it very much. The health of our clients was a primary reason why we were not able to fill all the seats on the bus. Originally, we had 47 people; however after the consultation with the doctor 16 of them were not able to come and that made us very sad. Altogether, there were 31 clients and 4 guides participating in this trip.

We arrived back home around 2 a.m. We were not able to take pictures during our trip as our camera broke down; however the organizers promised to provide a DVD for us. The entrance fee was 150 Slovak crowns. This expense was covered by Civic Association Univerzus from Rožňava and we would like to express our appreciation this way.
